New Teleflex Truck Heaters Help Keep Owner-Operators Warm While Reducing Fuel Costs and Emissions Proheat(R) Air helps reduce fuel consumption by up to 95 percent
By Doug Siefkes
Teleflex Power Systems, a division of Teleflex Incorporated (NYSE: TFX), announced today the launch of a new line of advanced auxiliary cab heaters for heavy-duty trucks in time for the coming winter season. Proheat Air Heaters help truck owner-operators significantly reduce engine idling fuel consumption while helping comply with anti-idling regulations.Email this article Proheat Air is a diesel-powered air heater that supplies heat for in-cab driver comfort during cold weather. Available in either 2 or 4 kW models, the heater reduces fuel consumption by up to 95 percent compared to engine idling, while supplying heat more quietly and efficiently. Idling a truck engine during rest periods has been a common way drivers generate auxiliary heat in their cab during cold weather. The amount of fuel consumed by an idling truck engine is far more than required to heat a truck cab, resulting in the expense of wasted fuel and unnecessary engine hours and emissions. Since drivers can heat their truck with their engine off, Proheat Air helps owner-operators comply with the growing number of state and local regulations designed to eliminate unnecessary idling. “Teleflex is excited about the addition of Proheat Air to our existing Proheat coolant heating solutions. Proheat has been a trusted and reliable brand in the trucking industry for many years and we expect the same of Proheat Air”, said Derek Pettingale, director of marketing programs at Teleflex Power Systems. “This new heater expands the number of solutions we have for the truck market, and, for many owner-operators, the cost savings could pay for the heater over a single winter season.” Proheat Air includes a remotely mounted control panel with digital display for easy set-up and control of the heater from inside the truck cab. The control panel incorporates advanced timers that allow drivers to start Proheat Air at a specific time so the truck is warm when they arrive. It also allows drivers to specify an ambient temperature inside the cab, just like at home. Proheat Air will be distributed nationally by Carrier Transicold's truck/trailer dealer network and is available now for purchase from authorized Proheat dealers.
