Company Equipment Driver of the Year Contest: Doug Ladds of MacKinnon Transport Earns Grand Prize
Paradise Island, The Bahamas – In the 19th Annual Company Equipment Driver of the Year contest, sponsored by Truckload Carriers Association (TCA), Detroit Diesel, and Truckers News, three TCA-member company drivers were honored as the nation's best. The awards, presented March 3rd during TCA's Annual Convention at The Atlantis Resort in The Bahamas, were based on the drivers' excellent safety records, unblemished work histories, and involvement in their communities and industry.
Listen up folks, it is gettin’ real close to condition critical when it comes to profit margins and makin’ money with a truck right now.  I wish we could all keep actin’ like it doesn’t matter - we’ll just run a lil’ harder, but we have to be smart right now and get as efficient as feasibly possible, cut our operating costs every chance we get, while still not sacrificing our comfort or style.
Women In Trucking, Inc. (WIT) welcomed American Trucking Associations, Inc. (ATA) Chairman, Ray Kuntz at a reception held in Orlando, Florida during the Management Conference and Exhibition. Kuntz, who is President and CEO of Watkins Shepherd Motor Lines in Helena, Montana, addressed the standing room only audience.
American Trucking Associations (ATA) seeks help from Technology & Maintenance Council members, trucking operators and fleet managers nationwide to participate in a survey to better understand the apparent increase in truck fires.
The trucking industry has always been known for its toughness; heavy loads, long hauls and late hours.  Hardworking men and women fighting against the cold and rain and sleet for weeks at a time; safely delivering each and every load from point A to point B so they can head home for a few days, get a little rest and hit the road again.
